We will meet at Oceano Dunes from 12:00 - 1pm and then head out via caravan to the Garcia Ridge TrailHead about an hour away for a scenic Jeep Trail Ride. More details to come. This is a very easy well maintained trail (I will plan to pre-run it this summer). There is only one difficult section called the stair steps, but it has a bypass. It is a very tight trail towards the end, so expect scratches.
After you Jeep's been flexing all day, you should too. Even better, flex with fellow Jeepers during Sunrise Yoga. Jessica Sousa, a leading certified yoga instructor and Jeep enthusiast will start the day right. Jessica Sousa, from Modesto, California, has been specially trained in Vinyasa/flow, power/strength, and Kids yoga styles although she teaches and is trained in all forms of yoga. Our JBW session will be somewhat of a mix of a a vinyasa flow and a deep relaxation class. Plan to keep it light and fun while also challenging our bodies. Sunrise will be at 7am.
Safety is number one and Jeeping is an inherently dangerous sport. We will lead a group of newbie Jeepers into the Dunes to discuss various topics such as- airing down, driving on the dunes, speed tips, how to navigate a bowl, recovery options, and what to do in case of a rollover.
Let's hit the dunes and spin some tires. We will start staging at Post 2 (South end of Pismo Beach) about 11am to wheel in Oceano Dunes. There will be a general orientation and overview of logistics, safety, & Tread Lightly expectations. Different groups will be lead out by a designated trail leader to wheel in the dunes. We'll head out at 11:30am and be on CB channel 15.
We will be offering Kids the opportunity to create customer JBW Stencils with construction paper and finger paint (these would make a great Father's Day present). Please meet near the registration about 1:30 for the Kids Krafts event. Ages from 4-11, but any kids are welcome, even big kids who drive Jeeps.
Plan to get together to speak "Jeep" and show off our rides and mods, share suggestions and ask questions. We will start gathering about 4:30pm at the main camping area. Please head to the JBW canopy tent for registration packets if you haven't picked them up. Packets include product giveaway ticket, stickers and a voting slip. Please place the ticket in the jar with the product you want. If your number matches, you'll get the prize. After viewing the jeeps, cast your vote for best of show. There will be a vote for best of show, for each class- leaf sprung and coil sprung. Register for the Hill Climb Challenge on Sunday. About 6:00pm, we will begin the product giveaway. For anyone gathering trash on the beach, we will give away a Trasharoo to who collects the most trash
We will be hanging out in the camp area after the show 'n shine. There will be a group of volunteers sponsoring the hot dog roast and we should have plenty for everyone, but just in case have a backup such as your favorite camp food or enjoy local dining options such as Fin's Restaurant or Rib Line by the Beach. Please thank Greg the Food Dude for bringing and cooking the hot dogs.
We will line up just south of the $1 air area. Look for the JBW canopy tent and Jeeps. There is no line up order. The route will be a loop south returning back to the park entrance. After the parade, feel free to wheel in the dunes, join the hill climb, hang on the beach, or head back home. A quick video of part of 2014 parade http://youtu.be/QrUgW0s4d-M
After the parade, feel free to wheel in the dunes, hang on the beach our head back home. We will have a hill climb challenge as well after the parade for those interested. We will plan to eat lunch at the bottom of the hill climb. Here is a quick video of the 2014 hill climb challenge.
Rugged Radios will be demonstrating and training on communications best practices when offroading, including the pros and cons of the various communications methods such as CB, and UHF / VHF. Please stop by their vendor booth at 2pm to hear the seminar, ask questions and grab some cool coozies.
